Brandon used the satellite navigation system in his police cruiser to find his way to the address. He parked on the drive and got out, glancing around before he climbed over the back gate into the rear of the property. A big house, it was set back from the main road, enclosed by trees. The open plan kitchen led him into a neat, comfortably furnished living room and more pictures of Finn scattered about. Brandon didn’t exactly know what he was looking for, but he guessed he’d recognise it when he found it. He just wasn’t sure he wanted to find it. He stood in the middle of the living room and tried to get a feel of being Finn, in this room every day for ten years. He looked down at the beige carpet. A dried, brownish patch stained the fabric near the coffee table. Brandon tensed. Finn’s blood. If he’d brought a UV light and Luminol, he guessed he would find it all over the house.

Christ, did he really want to do this? He might find something here that would give him nightmares the rest of his life. He straightened his shoulders. Being here was only going to help him further understand Finn’s continued suffering, he was sure of it.

The bookcase along one wall caught his eye. He went over, perusing the titles of DVDs lined up neatly. Horror films, old black and whites, gay movies. What a monster like Dominic was doing possessing a copy of such a tender love story as Brokeback Mountain was beyond Brandon. He presumed it was Finn’s.

On the bottom shelf, he found the porn. Anal Virgins, Cum Sluts, Straight Boys Get Fucked and other imaginative titles greeted him. Brandon pulled each one out and checked the back of the box for the director’s name, opening all of them to make sure the disc matched the box.
